Frugal restaurant options

For example, I used to eat a Chipotle optoins bowl once or Frugal restaurant options twice Opyions week. Optiond kids, 8yo and 6yo, explained to me the other day that they prefer homemade treats to store bought because we can make several pans of brownies for the cost of one small treat eating out. I want to give another thumbs up for freezer meals.

Freezer cooking is one of them, but keep this idea in the back of your head if you ever need it. The situations listed above are when you are at your absolute worst. Yup, I still have them. Likely you will too. The first thing to go in those situations is your routines.

The concept of eating out is my dinner version of the red panic button. So when something like that happens, you have your panic button ready to go. Most of these meals are priced similarly. Even by buying a burger, fry and drink from the dollar menu, I find the prices, quantity and quality of the food choices below to be a better value.

My Top 4 Favorite Cheap Restaurants. Photo Credit: Bev Sykes. Olive Garden. If you pair this with milk and cereal for breakfast, and have leftovers those meals are huge!

for lunch, filling in with peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and yogurt if you run out of leftovers , this makes for a pretty cheap week. They come in microwavable containers and they can be refrigerated at home and eaten within two days according to Darryl, our local Wegmans deli guy who is worth his weight in gold.

We used this option for the insanity that followed our last baby when I came down with an infection and was bed ridden even more so for a few days. You can pick up 4 meals at a time, and eat them for dinner for two days.

You can pick up a container of lunch meat or peanut butter and jelly and bread for sandwiches with baby carrots and chips at Lunch, and milk and cereal for breakfast. Photo Credit: Pat Durkin. The key to subway is to just go for the sandwich and skip the drink and chips.

Get a foot long sub, so you can eat the second half for lunch the next day. Drink water at home and pair it with anything found in your house: yogurt, chips, ice cream, raisins and peanuts, or anything you can find.

Hint: You can order online and just walk in and pick it up with no wait. Add cereal, bananas and milk for breakfast. Just need a quick meal out at a cheap restaurant? Try these ideas…. Little Caesars. Perfect to take to a soccer game and eat in the stands rather than taking everyone to the drive thru.

Just load up on fruit and veggies after the game. Photo Credit: Janine. We can usually get 3 meals out of one pizza. When we do order pizza which is extremely rare because I married a man that makes pizza from scratch better than a NYC food truck , this is where we head to.

Perfect for a super frugal date night out. If you have potty trained children, they also have 30 minutes of childcare available in a really fun space with climbing equipment and ball pits.

Send the kids to play, go find a comfy couch to test out while you recharge and then have a quick lunch. Perfect for a quick lunch on errands day. This post may contain affiliate links.

Read my full disclosure policy here. I am ALL about going out to eat for avoiding insanity! I wish we had a Wegmans close by again… I love that grocery store!!! Happy to share Aspen! I just told my husband last night that proximity to a Wegmans would be a huge factor in deciding where we move to.

However, dining out is one thing we really enjoy. But, we never go without a coupon or a deal. It really does make it as cheap as eating at home. Especially if you can control your portions and bring leftovers home.

Visit Restaurant. com and see if they offer any discounts in your area. Keep in mind that most times you cannot use the coupons for alcohol, tip, or in combination with other offers. Also check out if there is an Entertainment Book put together for your area. These books cost a minimal amount, and if used properly can yield savings many times their cost.

Let your coupons determine where you will eat. This can actually make it more exciting as you may get to try a place you have never been before, and may have never visited if it were not for your coupon!

Use a ceiling amount you allow yourself to spend and do not surpass it. It can become a competition to see who can get the best meal yet spend the least. All of this will work together to keep your money where it belongs…in your pocket. Normally as soon as you sit down they will not only ask what you would like to drink, they will suggest some expensive mixed drinks, or something of the like.

Instead of ordering a soda, coffee, tea, juice, milk, bottled water, or any other type of drink…simply order a glass of tap water. After drinks, they will most likely try to upsell you with an appetizer.

After your meal you will be asked if you would like any dessert…and maybe even some coffee to go with it! Although these things sound good, you can imagine how much it will end up costing over the course of one meal. Aside from staying home to eat, this may be the single best way to avoid high dining bills.

Just stick to the entrees and whatever comes with them that is included in the price. Not only will this save your wallet, it will also save your waistline! Remember that you have a spending limit that you set for yourself in step 3 that you must adhere to.

If you do order an expensive meal, try to wait for a special occasion, use a coupon, or wait until the restaurant is running a special on the dish.

If you just have to have an appetizer or a dessert, try to split with the other diners in your party. My wife has been known to order off the kids menu at different times.

The child meals are always much cheaper than the adult size meals. Although all may not let you order off it unless you are indeed a senior, it never hurts to ask. A lot of times in life we miss opportunities because we simply fail to ask!

If both of these options fail attempt to ask the waitperson if you can order a half portion or a lunch sized portion. Again, it never hurts to ask. This is one of my all time favorites! We ALWAYS end up well fed, satisfied, and happy with the fact that we just cut our dining bill in half!

This is a phrase I coined that simply means to purposely eat only half your meal with the full intention of taking the other half home. We simply order separate meals, eat half, and then take the other half home to have as leftovers for the next day. This way we get 4 meals for the price of two.

If we submit ourselves to God, and are faithful in the little things , according to His Word God will in turn bless us with much. Let me bring to your attention the parable of the noblemen and his servants in Luke chapter And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.

But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this [man] to reign over us. And it came to pass, that when he was returned, having received the kingdom, then he commanded these servants to be called unto him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading.

Then came the first, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds. And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities. And the second came, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained five pounds.

And he said likewise to him, Be thou also over five cities. And another came, saying, Lord, behold, [here is] thy pound, which I have kept laid up in a napkin: For I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up that thou layedst not down, and reapest that thou didst not sow.

And he saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, [thou] wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow: Wherefore then gavest not thou my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have required mine own with usury?

And he said unto them that stood by, Take from him the pound, and give [it] to him that hath ten pounds. And they said unto him, Lord, he hath ten pounds. For I say unto you, That unto every one which hath shall be given; and from him that hath not, even that he hath shall be taken away from him.

But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay [them] before me. Though it may seem silly, we need to be faithful in all areas of our lives, even going out to eat.

The Lord will see your efforts and will bless them according to His Will. Praise the Lord! I am including both a. png version of my Frugal Dining Reference Card with this post. Please download this card, shrink it to whatever size you would like, and store it in your purse or wallet for quick reference use when dining out.
